A website is “optimized” for search engines when every page on the site contains only relevant information… and… all that information is presented in the most effective manner. That would be like putting ALL your effort into making a car go… when… you only really care about the tires. You make sure every page has only relevant and compelling information. Here are some tips: Use Proper Keywords. Use as many as possible. Do not stuff your pages with keywords. Make sure each individual page is using the right keyword or key phrases. Write Relevant Copy. Write long copy on every page. Tell a story. Give examples. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes. A website is comprised of many “pages”. A “page” is a document or group of documents on your site that is open to viewing by visitors. Every page has three basic components:

The Title – this is the headline of the page

The Content – this is the body copy of the page

The Linking – these are the words or phrases which connect one page to another and allow visitors to “jump” from one page to another

Every page needs a title. Titles are very important. They appear in blue ink above the linked words on the screen as people read through your site. It is the first impression people get when they see your page. And, it is the title that appears at the top of the list of hits when someone does a search with a search engine such as Google or Yahoo!.

The first words of the title need to be a compelling reason for someone to click on the link to your page. The second set of words should reinforce the reason the first set of words gave someone to click on the link. You want to give the searcher (visitor) as much useful information as you can in the first few words of the title. More useful information means a better chance of getting a higher ranking when someone does a search with a search engine.
